The function of the levelling valve is to maintain the car body on a set level, in order to safeguard a safe embarking or disembarking of passengers at the station and to increase the driving comfort by an optimum setting of the air suspension. 

  The levelling valve thus regulates the pressure in the air suspension of the bogie.
